MetroHealth Partners with Pieces Technologies to Enhance Clinical Workflows with AI
Pieces Technologies, Inc. (“Pieces”) and The MetroHealth System (“MetroHealth”), Northeast Ohio’s public safety-net hospital system, have announced a strategic partnership to enhance clinical workflows using AI-powered tools. This collaboration aims to save clinicians time and improve patient care across both inpatient and outpatient settings.
MetroHealth will integrate Pieces’ AI platform with its existing electronic health record (EHR) systems. The technology is designed to streamline documentation, automate administrative processes, and empower care teams with precise, actionable insights.
“Pieces’ AI-powered solutions will help MetroHealth enhance patient care and improve access by reducing inefficiencies and eliminating time-consuming administrative tasks, allowing our talented caregivers to work at the top of their licenses and provide more personalized care to more patients,” said R. The Pieces Inpatient Platform is backed by multiple patents and a rigorous human-in-the-loop review process. It has already generated over 10 million clinician-ready documents for health systems nationwide. Its AI-generated Working Summaries—modeled after the assessment portion of a SOAP note—provide concise, three-to-four-sentence snapshots that distill key information for care teams.
At MetroHealth, this technology will support the creation of progress notes, discharge summaries, utilization-management reviews, and discharge barrier reports in just seconds.
In addition, MetroHealth will implement the Pieces Ambulatory Platform, which delivers lifetime patient summaries. These summaries offer clinicians a longitudinal view of patient histories, providing critical context across various encounters and care settings.

On average, the Inpatient Platform saves physicians 40-50 minutes and case managers approximately 60 minutes daily. As a pioneer in AI Quality, Pieces recently introduced a risk mitigation framework for clinical AI, promoting transparency and safety in digital health solutions.
MetroHealth and Pieces are also working together on a National Cancer Institute and National Institutes of Health contract to study how conversational AI can improve care for cancer patients.
