Intersection, a leading experience-driven out-of-home media and technology company, in collaboration with LinkNYC, has officially launched the LinkNYC Self-Service Ad Portal—designed to make advertising more accessible for New York City’s small business community.

This new platform brings significant enhancements to LinkNYC’s popular LinkLocal free advertising program, making it easier than ever for local businesses and community organizations to engage with their neighborhoods. Eligible NYC-based small businesses can now run ads on six LinkNYC screens simultaneously—an increase from the previous limit of four—at no cost.

Additional upgrades include customizable ad templates with color options, the ability to incorporate logos and QR codes, and an interactive map to help advertisers select the most strategic kiosk locations throughout the city.

“These upgrades to LinkLocal will provide hundreds more community-based businesses and nonprofits with opportunities to amplify their messaging through the most coveted out-of-home advertising space in New York City,” said Margaux Knee, Chief Administrative Officer of LinkNYC. “In 2024 alone, LinkNYC provided over $4 million in free advertising space, and we’re just getting started.”

The Self-Service Portal also introduces LinkDirect, a flexible new offering for paid campaigns. Designed for businesses with varying budgets, LinkDirect allows advertisers to choose specific screen locations and campaign dates, upload custom creatives, and integrate QR codes for increased engagement. To mark National Small Business Month, advertisers can use the discount code SHOPSMALL20 for 20% off their first LinkDirect order during May.

“LinkNYC is the ideal platform for New York City’s vibrant small business community,” said Jonathan Fuller, Chief Revenue Officer at Intersection. “With thousands of LinkNYC kiosks across all five boroughs, we’re excited to help local businesses of all sizes and budgets connect with their neighborhoods in a meaningful way.”

Dynishal Gross, Commissioner of the New York City Department of Small Business Services, added: “Thanks to our ongoing partnership with LinkNYC and Intersection, more local entrepreneurs will promote their goods and services directly in the communities they serve. The expanded Self-Service Ad Portal preserves the ease of use small business owners value while introducing new tools—like embedded QR codes and location targeting—to make ads even more impactful and measurable.”
