Mortensen Joins from Google and Will Scale Sales Momentum for Next Phase of The Trade Desk’s Growth

The Trade Desk, the world’s leading independent advertising technology company, announced the appointment of Anders Mortensen as Chief Revenue Officer (CRO), effective November 4th. Mortensen will oversee global revenue generation and report directly to Jeff Green, The Trade Desk’s CEO and Co-Founder.

Mortensen brings more than 25 years of experience in global executive leadership and digital advertising, specializing in scaling high-performance commercial teams. Most recently, he served as Managing Director and newly promoted Vice President at Google, where he led one of the largest and fastest-growing advertising businesses worldwide. During his decade-long tenure at Google, he held multiple leadership roles, including leading the U.S. Agency and Channel Partner businesses and spearheading the launch and expansion of the Google Marketing Platform to the Americas Mid-Market. Prior to Google, Mortensen served as General Manager at Fujitsu, where he led its most profitable consulting division and helped launch one of the company’s earliest cloud computing initiatives.

“I’m excited and honored to welcome Anders to The Trade Desk as our new Chief Revenue Officer,” said Green. “The addition of Anders reflects our vision and ambition for the future. At Google, Anders was a tremendous force for growth among advertisers and agencies. I believe he will bring structure and discipline to scale our sales and go-to-market operations. By combining The Trade Desk’s vision for the open internet with Anders’ leadership, we can take our business — and the open internet — to unprecedented heights.”

Mortensen shared his enthusiasm for joining The Trade Desk: “The Trade Desk is the clear, independent leader defining the future of the open internet. I’m excited to join Jeff and the team to accelerate this new era of growth, particularly within high-ROI channels like Connected TV and Retail Media. My focus will be on aligning our global commercial strategy to fully leverage Kokai, Koa AI, and industry innovations such as Unified ID 2.0 and OpenPath. These tools will help us deliver measurable outcomes and maximize ROI for clients worldwide.”

Jed Dederick, who has served as CRO for more than 13 years, will transition from the role by year-end, continuing with the company to ensure a smooth handover. “Jed joined The Trade Desk when we were fewer than 20 people with zero revenue,” said Green. “He’s been instrumental in driving our go-to-market success as we’ve grown into the world’s largest independent demand-side platform. We’re deeply grateful for his contributions, leadership, and the lasting relationships he’s built with global marketers.”

Dederick reflected on his tenure: “I’m incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved over the past 13 years — from start-up to S&P 500 company. After an incredible professional journey, I plan to take some time to recharge. I’m thrilled to welcome Anders and look forward to supporting him through the transition. I’ll always be one of The Trade Desk’s biggest fans.”
