Xero, the New Zealand-founded accounting platform trusted by over 4.5 million small businesses worldwide, has launched a live integration with Anthropic's Claude AI — a move that brings real-time financial intelligence directly into AI-powered conversations and marks the first time Xero customers can work with their live financial data inside an AI platform. The integration operates in both directions, embedding Claude within Xero while simultaneously surfacing Xero's financial data inside Claude.ai.
A Bidirectional Partnership Built for Real-Time Finance
The integration, which builds on a multi-year partnership announced in late March 2026, is designed to eliminate the friction of switching between platforms. Rather than exporting static reports or spreadsheets, users can now surface live Xero data directly within Claude conversations — querying cash positions, reviewing overdue invoices, and analysing revenue trends in real time.
On the Xero side, Claude's reasoning capabilities power the platform's existing AI assistant JAX (Just Ask Xero), which launched in September 2025, automating financial workflows from tracking cash flow to flagging unpaid invoices and analysing profit performance. Insights generated within Claude also link back to Xero, enabling users to click through to full reports, contact records, or invoice details to take immediate action.
"Every day, millions of small business owners ask the same questions: Why is cash tight this month? Which invoices are overdue? Can I afford to hire? To run their business efficiently, small business owners and their accountants and bookkeepers need to be able to answer these questions and act on them in real time, whether using Xero or Claude. This partnership delivers on that."— Diya Jolly, Chief Product & Technology Officer, Xero
What the Integration Covers at Launch
The capabilities available at launch span three core areas. First, revenue and profit analysis — including period-on-period comparisons to track how a business is performing over time. Second, contacts and receivables — covering outstanding payments and customer revenue contributions, allowing business owners and advisors to pinpoint who owes what and who drives the most value. Third, financial position — encompassing assets, liabilities, and cash flow for a comprehensive view of business health.
The integration sits within Xero's Xero OS framework — the company's broader AI-native operating system — and reflects what Xero calls its "Accountable Intelligence" approach, which prioritises responsible, trusted AI deployment at the core of financial workflows.
CFO-Level Intelligence, Now Accessible to Every SMB
Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International at Anthropic, described the partnership as giving small businesses and their advisors the kind of financial intelligence that was previously only accessible to companies with a dedicated analyst or CFO. By combining Xero's 20 years of trusted financial infrastructure with Claude's reasoning layer, the aim is to surface clear answers and recommended actions in real time — without hours of manual number-crunching.
Looking ahead, the integration is expected to expand significantly. Within Claude.ai, customers will be able to combine Xero data with external inputs such as market trends or business plans for scenario modelling — such as assessing year-end financial positions — without switching tools. Over time, the roadmap includes single-click execution of financial tasks directly within Claude, bringing the full power of agentic financial workflows to millions of small businesses globally.
"Xero has spent 20 years building the financial platform that millions of small businesses depend on. Claude brings a reasoning layer to that foundation. Now, instead of spending hours trying to make sense of their financials, customers get clear answers and recommended actions in real time — the kind of financial intelligence that used to require a dedicated analyst or CFO."— Chris Ciauri, Managing Director of International, Anthropic
