ACQUISITIONS LED AT LUMISTRY
Sunwave, a leading software provider for behavioral health and substance use organisations, has named Corey Hansen as its new Chief Executive Officer. Alongside the appointment, the company launched Crest, a customer advisory board designed to put frontline clinicians directly into its product decisions.
A New CEO With a Growth Track Record
Hansen brings two decades of experience building and scaling technology companies to the role. He most recently served as CEO of Lumistry, a private equity-backed healthcare technology company, where he led four acquisitions and grew annual recurring revenue past $40 million.
Earlier in his career, Hansen held roles spanning product management, sales, strategy consulting and analytics, giving him a broad operating background as he steps into Sunwave's top job.
"We created Crest to learn from the best-in-class clinicians whose work we aspire to make more impactful"
— Corey Hansen, Chief Executive Officer, Sunwave
Crest: Putting Clinicians in the Room
Crest brings together executive, clinical and operational leaders from nine behavioural health organisations across the country to advise Sunwave on product direction. The board held its inaugural summit in Nashville, where members worked directly with Sunwave leadership on clinical workflows, the patient journey, revenue cycle management and AI priorities.
That input is now shaping Sunwave's product roadmap and Hansen's near-term plan, signalling a leadership approach built around listening to the providers who use the platform every day rather than dictating from the top down.
A Voice From the Field
Nick Hayes, PhD, Chief Science Officer at Cumberland Heights, one of the nation's oldest nonprofit addiction treatment providers, welcomed the shift in approach. He described Crest as flipping the usual script, noting that Sunwave brought providers to the table to understand how they actually work, with Hansen asking questions rather than dictating answers.
Sunwave serves treatment organisations nationwide with a unified platform spanning admissions, clinical documentation, billing and alumni engagement, combining EMR, CRM and RCM into a single AI-native system. Its platform includes SIA, described as the first ISO 42001-certified AI tool built specifically for behavioural health documentation and clinical decision support.
