FuboTV Inc., the leading sports-first live TV streaming platform, has launched programmatic pause ads, becoming the first Connected TV (CTV) platform to offer this ad format in a programmatic biddable environment. This innovation is powered by ClearLine, Magnite’s self-service buying solution.

Fubo now supports both programmatic guaranteed (PG) and biddable private marketplace (PMP) executions for pause ads. Advertisers can benefit from increased flexibility and the advantages of programmatic transactions, including precise audience targeting and detailed post-campaign analytics.

This evolution of pause ads builds on Fubo’s ongoing ad innovation strategy. Initially launched last year as part of a suite of interactive CTV ad units, the format displays a static or interactive ad a few seconds after a viewer presses pause during a content stream. Once the user resumes playback, the ad disappears. These ads can also include QR codes to encourage additional engagement.

According to Fubo’s internal data, CTV pause ads drive 33% more brand engagement than video ads alone, showcasing the impact of this interactive format.

“Fubo is proud to have a long history of market firsts, and offering pause ads programmatically is the next phase in advancing our ad innovation,” said Jennifer Hess, VP of Global Ad Operations at Fubo. “Interactive formats like pause ads continue to gain momentum, and now brands have more flexibility to activate across our robust lineup of live sports, news, and entertainment. Programmatic pause ads for CTV are a game changer, and we’re eager to roll them out to advertisers.”

“Fubo’s launch of programmatic pause ads marks a meaningful step forward for innovation in CTV advertising,” said Chris Signore, Group VP of Business Development at Magnite. “We’re proud to power this first-to-market opportunity with Fubo, helping brands drive deeper engagement during premium streaming moments.”
