The appointments follow a strong fourth quarter and sustained customer and business growth in 2025, as enterprises continue to scale unified digital commerce across increasingly complex environments.
As global enterprises expand across markets, channels, and business models, execution has become a primary differentiator. commercetools is strengthening its commercial leadership and partner strategy to help customers scale revenue, accelerate time to market, and operate consistently across regions while working closely with a growing global ecosystem of partners.
John Lentine to Lead Global Revenue Strategy
In his role as CRO, John Lentine will lead commercetools’ global revenue organization, overseeing sales, customer expansion, and go-to-market execution. He will focus on scaling predictable growth, expanding enterprise adoption across industries, and translating platform capabilities into clear commercial outcomes for customers worldwide.
John brings more than 17 years of experience leading enterprise revenue organizations, including responsibility for over $1 billion in annual recurring revenue across the Americas at PTC, the market leader in product design, manufacturing, and service software. His background spans complex enterprise sales, global account expansion, and scaling go-to-market teams in highly technical environments.
“The next phase of commerce will be defined by execution,” said John. “That’s what separates ambition from results. My focus is on building a revenue engine that helps enterprises scale unified and agentic commerce in a way that’s predictable, repeatable, and commercially sound.”
Paul Applegate to Expand Global Partner Ecosystem
As Vice President, Partners & Alliances, Paul Applegate will lead the continued expansion of commercetools’ global partner ecosystem. His responsibilities include deepening strategic relationships, building new alliances in priority markets, and driving coordinated joint programs that accelerate pipeline growth, new bookings, and customer value.
“Partners are a force multiplier as enterprises operationalize AI across commerce,” said Paul. “commercetools has built a strong enterprise foundation, and I’m excited to work with partners globally to help customers move faster, reduce complexity, and realize value from unified commerce at scale.”
Paul joins commercetools from Invoice Cloud, where he led Global Alliances and Business Development, building and scaling a high-performing partner network. He brings deep experience aligning partner strategy with customer outcomes, operational rigor, and long-term ecosystem growth.
Strengthening Enterprise Impact Worldwide
The leadership appointments reinforce commercetools’ commitment to delivering measurable outcomes for enterprise customers while scaling its market position and ecosystem influence.
“We’ve built a strong business by delivering results for leading B2C and B2B customers and working closely with partners across our ecosystem,” said Doug McNary, Chief Executive Officer of commercetools. “John and Paul bring the experience to scale what’s already working, expand our market position, and deepen our impact with enterprise customers globally.”
